On September 11, 14 and 15, 2018 the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will see the premiere show of The Tsar’s Bride opera by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. It was composed on the basis of the same-name historical verse drama by Lev Mei, which narrates a historic episode of Ivan the Terrible’s third marriage
On August 8, 2018 III International Mariinsky Far East Festival, Vladivostok, finished. The Festival was held on the performance venues of the Primorsky Stage from July 24, 2018. The final performance of the festival was The Queen of Spades opera by Pyotr Tchaikovsky staged by Yuri Temirkanov (August 8, 2018)
On August 4, 2018 at 04:00 p.m., the already familiar to the audience of the Primorsky Stage Iolanta opera by Pyotr Tchaikovsky will be performed in its concert version, under the baton of Valery Gergiev. The main parts will be sung by opera stars Irina Churilova (Iolanta), Mikhail Petrenko (René, King of Provence), Aleksey Markov (Robert), Nazhmiddin Mavlyanov (Count Vaudémont), Roman Burdenko (Ibn-Hakia). Also, the Ensemble of the Academy of Young Opera Singers of the Mariinsky Theatre will take part in the concert
