It has become a good long-standing tradition with the audience of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre to attend festive musical events every year. Among such events there is a big New Year Gala under the baton of Pavel Smelkov, Principal Conductor of the Primorsky Stage.

This New Year Gala program includes the best arias from eminent operas by Giuseppe Verdi, Gioachino Rossini, Gaetano Donizetti, Camille Saint-Saëns, Charles Gounod, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and Giacomo Puccini. The languishing aria of the alluring beauty Dalila, the cheerful song of the Duke, the cavatina of Figaro, an artful barber of Seville, the rousing aria Nessun dorma of Prince Calaf, the sweet waltz of Juliet, the diabolic couplets of Mephistopheles, and many other compositions will be performed by soloists of the Primorsky Stage including honored artists and young prizewinners of international competitions.
