About the Concert

The two dissimilar essences – the 17th century Polish nobility and the wild nomadic Polovtsy – will meet at the Gala Concert arranged by the Primorsky Stage.

The audience will be able to enjoy the two famous dance acts from the two well-known Russian operas: the Polish act from Glinka’s A Life for the Tsar (formerly Ivan Susanin) and the Polovtsian act from Borodin’s Prince Igor. Each of them will be performed in costumes and sets from the relevant historic productions of the Mariinsky Theatre. The Primorsky Stage ballet company, opera soloists and chorus, as well as the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage will take part in the Gala Concert. The Orchestra will be under the baton of Pavel Smelkov, Principal Conductor of the Primorsky Stage.
