Listening to Grieg’s Suite From Holberg’s Time, a music critic contemplates this composition. Suddenly, her thoughts are interrupted by the appearance of Grieg and Holberg, large as life. They are arguing about the purpose of music and literature, and about themselves — the renowned enlightener of the 18th century and the brilliant Norwegian composer of the 19th century. The music critic watches them from the sidelines, not believing her eyes.
