The end of December will see a lot of debuts in Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre: on December 22, Sergei Umanetc will for the first time perform the Arabian Dance, soloists Katerina Floria — the Spanish Dance and Yelim Choi — the Chinese Dance, Anton Nosov will for the first time appear as the King. On December 23, in the most fairy-tale ballet the Primorsky Stage ballerina Anna Samostrelova will make her role debut as the Sugar Plum Fairy and soloist Viktor Mulygin as the Nutcracker Prince while soloist Saki Nishida will for the first time perform the Spanish Dance.
