ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

The tone of Sergei Prokofiev’s piano cycle Visions fugitives is set by the following epigraph from Konstantin Balmont: “Everything that’s transient contains whole worlds for me, Full of rainbow colors, shifting, playing, free”. The one-act ballet Visions fugitives is an orchestic reflection of those worlds. “Now it is a kind of persiflage like a ray of smile, then it is an unexpectedly sparkling aphorism or an impulse of indignation, finally it is a weak immersion in something beyond here”, said Nikolai Myaskovsky about the cycle.
The ballet Visions fugitives tells us about human feelings, emotions, situations, wishes, and passions, about things of ephemeral nature, which have a significant impact on our life. The ballet choreography reflects my perception of Prokofiev’s piano cycle.
Dmitry Pimonov

I would like the ballet Visions fugitives to be devoid of everything but music and minimalistic plastique. So I chose to go without setting. I offer “a black parlor” in which dancers enrobed in clinging overalls should tell 20 short stories to the audience.
