The Ballet Company of the Primorsky Stage traditionally goes on a summerly tour in the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg with four popular ballet productions.
On August 3, 2021 the tour program was opened with a repertoire novelty – A Thousand and One Nights ballet by Fikret Amirov, an Azerbaijan composer. The ballet is choreographed by Eldar Aliev, Artistic Director of the Ballet Company of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. The primary roles were performed by soloists of the Primorsky Stage such as Irina Sapozhnikova, Anna Samostrelova, Sergei Umanetc, Kanat Nadyrbek, Lilia Berezhnova, and Katerina Floria. Members of the Saint Petersburg Ballet Company of the Mariinsky Theatre appeared on the stage together with Vladivostok dancers. The performances were conducted by Ayyub Guliyev, a Guest Conductor from Baku who held the baton a year ago at the premiere of A Thousand and One Nights at the V International Mariinsky Far East Festival, Vladivostok.
The tour will continue with such ballets as Le Corsaire, The Sleeping Beauty and Giselle till August 15, 2021.
“As a rule, we try to show performances that do not run in Saint Petersburg. This time we represent three original works by the Primorsky Stage. Their names may have something in common with those in the repertoire of the Mariinsky Theatre, however, they are quite different”, – said Eldar Aliev.
The ballets will be performed on the Historic Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre and at the Mariinsky II. The Mariinsky Orchestra will be conducted by Anton Torbeev, a Conductor of the Primorsky Stage.
