Shizuo Z Kuwahara, a famous conductor, became an award winner at an international competition in Romania

Shizuo Z Kuwahara, a principal guest conductor of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre, became a Second Prize winner and a receiver of special prizes at the V International Ionel Perlea Conducting Competition which was complete in Slobozia, Romania on July 29, 2021.

Born in Tokyo, Shizuo Z Kuwahara studied conducting at Yale University and the Eastman School of Music. His conducting career ascended rapidly after his win at the Solti Competition; he received conducting invitations from symphony orchestras. The conductor also became an award winner at the Malko International Conducting Competition, the Tokyo International Music Competition for Conducting, the Prokofiev International Conducting Competition in St Petersburg, and Fitelberg International Competition in Katowice, Poland.

Shizuo Z Kuwahara toured over North and South Americas, Europe and Asia and performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Denmark National Symphony Orchestra, the German Radio Symphony Orchestra, and many others.

In 2018 Shizuo Z Kuwahara made his debut at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. In the season 2019/20 the conductor became the Principal Guest Conductor of the Primorsky Stage.
