Tour of the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre

On November 26 and 27, 2021, the Saint Petersburg State Academic Yacobson Ballet Theatre will perform at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. The Leonid Yacobson troupe will represent the Don Quixote ballet, set to music by Ludwig Minkus and staged by Danish choreographer Johan Kobborg.

The new production of the Don Quixote ballet was staged at the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre to celebrate the 200th birth anniversary of Marius Petipa. The ballet, as revised by the heir to the Danish ballet school Johan Kobborg, won the audience’s affection at once. The professional community also appreciated it, and the ballet was nominated for the Golden Mask prize. The choreographer demonstrated a refreshing approach to timeless classics, but retained the ancient treasures as well. A roller-coaster of a plot and a cast of spitfire characters are finely emphasized by expressive choreography and luxurious scenery by the master of world stagecraft, Jérôme Kaplan.

The parts will be performed by the soloists of the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre: Elena Chernova, Andrey Sorokin, Tasman Davids, Stepan Demin, Anna Skvortcova, Marcel Kazykhanov, Nuria Kartamysova, Anastasia Milyachenko, Valerie Gomez, Alla Bocharova, Kirill Vychuzhanin, Denis Klimuk, Svetlana Svinko, Victoria Vinchenko, Maria Repetieva, Galina Mikhireva, Sofia Matyushenskaya, Vyacheslav Spilchevsky.

Andrei Danilov, conductor of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre, has been invited especially for the ballet performances at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.

The tours were organized by ROSCONCERT Federal Budget-Funded Educational Institution for Culture in accordance with the All-Russian Tour and Concert Schedule established by the Ministry for Culture of the Russian Federation.
