An amazingly beautiful production, inspired by the famous painting A Panorama of Mountains and Rivers by a Chinese artist from the Sòng Dynasty (X–XIII centuries). The unique 11-meter scroll is a masterpiece of traditional Chinese landscape painting, the history of which goes back almost a thousand years.
Creative work on the production, which involved over 40 dancers, took more than a year. The performers honed their choreographic skills in order to convey the beauty and scale of the painting through movement. Indeed, the painting is full of the smallest details that were transformed into the dance. Due to fantastic choreography, the legendary canvas literally springs to life in front of the eyes of the audience.
At the same time, hard work was going on to create a complex set, including a turntable on stage. In the course of rehearsals, the creators of the show consulted fine art experts and restoration artists. After a talk with one of the consultants, a new character appeared in the story – “a guide through the entire narrative,” or “the person who unfolds the scroll.” The audience follows him, exploring the world of marvelous Chinese culture.
