The repertoire of the second half of August 2022 has been broadened

Dear guests, the Primorsky Stage has published a playbill for the second half of August 2022. Please, choice your performances and attend the Theatre.

Within the second half of August 2022, the Primorsky Stage will present such well-known Russian operas as Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tale of Tsar Saltan.

The audience will again be able to enjoy such Italian operas as Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece La traviata staged by Charles Roubaud and the recent comic performance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s  Le  nozze  di  Figaro,  which  was  the  successful  opening  of  the  opera  part of the VII International Mariinsky Far East Festival. Another masterpiece by Mozart – Die Zauberflöte staged by Alain Maratrat – will be also performed at the Primorsky Stage in August 2022. The secret of its perpetual popularity is very simple: it is a good and kind fairy tale intended for viewing equally by children and adults.

In the Chamber Hall of the Primorsky Stage, the very youngest audiences will be able to enjoy some recent performances such as the children’s opera Murych the Cat by Sergei Banevich, an original and funny production, and the one-act opera The Little Prince by Leonid Klinichev based on the famous story by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. These operas will again help adults to remember their childhood and children to plunge into a fairy tale!

After the two-week tour in Saint Petersburg, the Ballet Company of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre returns to Vladivostok and is ready to please the audience with repertoire ballets. In August 2022 the audience of the Primorsky Stage will enjoy Don Quixote and La Bayadère by Ludwig Minkus and the colorful The Little Humpbacked Horse by Rodion Shchedrin.

Don Quixote is a sample of Spanish ballet with incendiary dances, castanets and fans. For soloists, this ballet is both a test for mastery and an opportunity for plunging into the playing environment where even a small role can be tinted with plenty of humorous colors.

The action of the incredibly beautiful ballet La Bayadère is set in India in ancient times. The ballet has been staged by Eldar Aliev, Honored Artistic Creator of Russia, Ballet Artistic Director of the Primorsky Stage. It is a story of love told through demure dance duets and large-scale spectacular ensembles of soloists.

Rodion Shchedrin’s ballet The Little Humpbacked Horse is a successful blend of the fairy-tale plot so attractive for children, the ironic interpretation that is interesting for adults, the extravagant and stylish designs, and the talented choreography by Alexei Ratmansky.
