The Great Symphony No. 9 by Ludwig van Beethoven will be performed at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre

On August 7, 2021 the Symphony No. 9 by Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the world key instrumental compositions, will be performed in the Great Hall of the Primorsky Stage. This Concert will complete the symphonic program of the VI International Mariinsky Far East Festival, Vladivostok.

The Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 (1824), is Beethoven’s last and highest achievement. This is a symphony in which poetic verse is first included. In the finale four soloists and a mixed male and female chorus sing accompanied by an orchestra.

At the Mariinsky Festival the monumental score of the Symphony No. 9 will be performed by soloists of the Mariinsky Opera Company such as Mlada Khudoley (soprano), Yulia Matochkina (mezzo-soprano), Yuri Vorobiev (bass), Gamid Abdulov, a fellow of the Atkins Young Artist Program at the Mariinsky Theatre (tenor), the Mariinsky Chorus of the Primorsky Stage and the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage under the baton of Pavel Smelkov.
