“Spring Promenade” at the Primorsky Stage

All guests of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre are expected to be put in a springlike mood at the “Spring Promenade” exhibition. Visitors may acquaint themselves with unique silk kerchiefs which are designed by Solstudio Textile Design, Russia. The exhibition continues the “Picture Gallery in the Mariinsky Theatre” project, which has jointly been carried out by the Primorsky Krai Art Museum and the Primorky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre since 2018.

The sixteen kerchiefs chosen from the collection of the Primorsky Krai Art Museum were first shown to the public at the “200 Stories of Russia” project at the Arts Festival held on the Russky Island. Some pieces of art from that collection have been demonstrated at the “Yellow Kerchief of Happiness”, “60 Stories of Russia” and “20 Stories of Russia” exhibitions in Tottori Prefecture, Japan and have always been of much interest to the public. Those sixteen kerchiefs are to be exhibited in the fourth-floor lobby of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre and first demonstrated since 2015.

The designers of Solstudio Textile Design, Moscow, under the Radical Chic brand name, believe that the Russian printed kerchief is not just a trendy part of clothes but an element of Russian costume, an important attribute of Russian culture and a mark of elegance. They yearly make two collections and work on each kerchief from six to twelve months.

The kerchiefs to be exhibited are attractively bright inimitable wares and absolutely unfit for mass production that deprives them their authors’ individualities. They are not as much attributable to everyday life as they are collectibles of which thousands of people throughout the world are admirers.

The “Spring Promenade” exhibition at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will run until March 28, 2021.
