Albina Shagimuratova will present a diverse programme at the II International Mariinsky Far East Festival

One of the world’s most in-demand sopranos will make a welcome return to the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre, this time - as part of the II International Mariinsky Far East Festival. The singer will appear in two distinct opera roles, take part in a gala-concert and will perform a solo programme.

Albina Shagimuratova is an internationally renowned opera singer, who has taken all the world’s leading venues by storm. An inimitable timbre of her voice, filigree vocal mastery and heartfelt acting have brought her fame and triumph in such theatres as the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, the Wiener Staatsoper and many others. Her talent has been acknowledged by multiple prestigious theatre awards - Golden Masc and Casta Diva, and quite recently, the singer was awarded the title of the Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation.

At the II International Mariinsky Far East Festival Albina Shagimuratova will take part in the events of various format, allowing her to showcase all the range of versatile capabilities of her unique voice. On 30 July, the, singer will join her colleagues in a concert dedicated to the Russian Navy Day, on July 31 she will give a solo recital.

On 3 August, Albina Shagimuratova will appear in the part of the passionate Donna Anna in a semi-staged version of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s celebrated opera Don Giovanni. She will be partnered by the Mariinsky lead soloists Yevgeny Nikitin, Mlada Khudoley, Mikhail Petrenko and Yevgeny Akhmedov, with Valery Gergiev on the conductor’s podium.

The Far East audience will also have a rare opportunity to hear the singer perform Russian operatic repertoire. On August 7, Albina Shagimuratova will sing the part of Marfa in Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s famous opera The Tsar’s Bride with the part of her rival Lyubasha performed by the Mariinsky soloist, mezzo-soprano Yulia Matochkina, baritone Kirill Zharovin will appear as Grigory Gryaznov.
