Mariinsky Label recordings are now available at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre

The ballet programme “The Future of Dance: Classical and Modern” on the 8th of August, part of the I International Mariinsky Far East Festival, will present different choreographic directions in Vladivostok

During this evening, which will take place in the Great Hall of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre, audiences will be presented with fragments from classical ballets of the 19th and 20th Centuries, modern dance from the start of the last Century and contemporary one-act productions performed by leading soloists of the ballet company of the Mariinsky Theatre.

The evening will be opened with works by Ilya Zhivoi, Maxim Petrov, and Anton Pimonov, participants of the Mariinsky Theatre “Creative Workshop of Young Choreographers” project. The Workshop takes place in the Theatre each spring and gives nascent choreographers complete freedom in their choice of music, style, plasticity and group of performers. The best of the presented works are included in the repertoire of the Mariinsky Theatre. Ilya Zhivoi and Maxim Petrov will present SeasonS and Pavlovsk, premiered at the XVI International Mariinsky Festival of Ballet, which took place this year. Anton Pimonov will present his successful debut work from 2013 Choreographic Game 3x3. This production attracted the attention of the directors of several ballet companies who then entrusted the young choreographer with staging of productions for their own artists. Following the line of contemporary choreography is Inspiration by Head Ballet Master of the Primorsky Stage Eldar Aliev.

The classical inheritance of the evening’s program will be represented by works well-known to both the Primorsky Stage public and premier dancers. The Primorsky Stage will present for the first time the duet from masterpiece of the twentieth century the ballet Le Parc by Angelin Preljocaj, and one of the most beautiful and exquisite productions of the modern repertoire, the pas de deux from Talisman set to music by Riccardo Drigo performed by the winners of the Big Ballet Program soloist Renata Shakirova. This number was first for the pair in that project and received good reviews. The jury commented on the coherence and "freshness" of the performance, as well as the technical precision and emotion.

Festival goers will also be delighted by the brilliant technique and expressiveness of the St Petersburg stars of the Mariinsky Theatre: prima ballerinas Ekaterina Kondaurova and Oxana Skorik, lead soloists Andrei Yermakov and Konstantin Zverev, soloists Soslan Kulaev, Viktoria Brileva, Tatiana Tkachenko, Yuliana Chereshkevich, Alexander Romanchikov, Nadezhda Batoeva, Alexei Nedviga, Tatiana Tiliguzova, Denis Zainetdinov.

Principal dancer of the Mariinsky Theatre Danila Korsuntsev will present the pubic with rising star from South Korea Soo Bin Lee, lead soloist of the company Xander Parish will perform with 1st prize winner of the Benois de la Danse competition (2016) in the category of “Best Dancer” Japanese born ballerina Hannah O’Neill, soloist of the Paris Opera. Soloists of the Primorsky Stage Ballet Company Irina Sapozhnikova and Sergei Umanets will also perform.

The ballet playbill of the I International Mariinsky Far East Festival also presents programmes with stars of the Mariinsky Theatre Diana Vishneva, Uliana Lopatkins, Vladimir Malakhov and other outstanding dancers (3rd and 4th of August), Giselle by A. Adams (6th of August), Swan Lake by P. Tchaikovsky (9th of August).
