On November 1, 2024 at 12:00, the Great Hall of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will be hosting Giacomo Puccini’s opera Turandot in its semi-concert version, to mark the 86th anniversary of the foundation of Primorsky Region. This momentous event will come as an addition to the opera program of the IX International Mariinsky Far East Festival.
The title part will be performed by the soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre Olga Maslova, who has become one of today’s most brilliant performers of the part of Turandot in the world. The singer has received many rave reviews from the public and critics in Russia, Korea and Italy, where she has shined as the cruel princess. She has performed the part of Turandot on the stages of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, KSPO Dome in Seoul, Arena di Verona, Sferisterio di Macerata, and the Florence Opera House.

The singer will be accompanied by the Mariinsky Theatre's tenor Sergei Skorokhodov and the outstanding soloists of the Primorsky Stage: Alina Mikhailik, Yevgeny Plekhanov, Dmitry Migulyov, Alexei Repin, Ilya Astafurov, Vsevolod Marilov, Mingiyan Odzhaev, Alexei Kostyuk.
Valery Gergiev will be conducting the Mariinsky Orchestra. The maestro will conduct Turandot in Vladivostok for the first time. The famous Mariinsky Orchestra will become another star of the upcoming semi-concert performance.
Turandot is one of the most performed operas of the 20th century; its libretto is based on the tragicomic Chinese fairy tale by Carlo Gozzi of a cruel princess ruining suitors who cannot give the right answers to her riddles.
