The Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre closed its tenth season on May 28, 2023, with the premiere of Alexander Glazunov’s famous romantic ballet Raymonda.

During the 2022/23 season, the Primorsky Stage team presented large-scale premiere performances of such operas as Le nozze di Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (staged by Alexander Petrov), Mazepa by Pyotr Tchaikovsky (staged by Ilya Shlepyanov), The Snow Maiden by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (staged by Alexander Galibin), and The Enchanted Wanderer by Rodion Shchedrin (staged by Alexei Stepanyuk).

The Primorsky Stage also delivered concert performances of two operas, Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin and Aleko by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

During the season, the ballet company of the Primorsky Stage appeared at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg twice, having performed A Thousand and One Nights, The Nutcracker, Le Corsaire, The Sleeping Beauty, Phaedra and The Firebird.

The symphonic programs of the season were marked by two major cycles dedicated to the 150th anniversaries of outstanding Russian composers. In December 2022, the musicians gave the final concert of the Scriabin – 150 cycle, during which all works for symphony orchestra by Alexander Scriabin were performed. The next month, a new cycle, Rachmaninoff – 150, was launched. It puts the listener in touch both with the popular works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, and with the lesser known ones.

The Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre continued to develop its repertoire for children and youth, setting it as one of its top priorities. The premiere performance of the opera for the youngest audiences The Turnip by the modern Russian composer Rustam Sagdiev took place. In May 2023, the Primorsky Stage also presented it to the audience of Ussuriysk. Theatre Excursions resumed, introducing audiences to the backstage of the Theatre. The Holidays at the Mariinsky project was also under way; it offered performances for family viewing with additional activities and master classes during school holidays.

In January 2023, soloists of the Primorsky Stage Opera Company Olga Maslova and Vyacheslav Vasilyev won the First Prizes and special awards at the I Hibla Gerzmava Opera Singers and Accompanists Competition in Moscow. This victory gave them opportunity to make their debut at prestigious metropolitan venues, and since April 2023 they have become soloists of the St Petersburg Opera Company of the Mariinsky Theatre.
