Conductor Arseny Shuplyakov will open the VII International Mariinsky Far East Festival

From July 28 to July 31, 2022 the VII International Mariinsky Far East Festival, Vladivostok, will start with Sergei Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Le Parc ballets at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. The Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage will be under the baton of Arseny Shuplyakov, 3rd prize-winner at the Rachmaninoff International Competition for pianists, composers and conductors (Moscow, 2022), a guest conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre.

The Rachmaninoff International Competition was held in Moscow for the first time in 2022. Valery Gergiev, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre, acted as a chair of the jury at the Competition. The jury also comprised such members as Christian Knapp, Fabio Mastrangelo, Alexander Sladkovsky, Vladimir Fedoseyev, and other famous conductors.

A graduate from the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory, Arseny Shuplyakov has been a conductor of the Mariinsky Stage Wind Band and a guest conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre since 2016. As a conductor he has performed with the Mariinsky Orchestra, the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre’s branch in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. His repertory at the Mariinsky Theatre encompasses plenty of ballet titles. Arseny Shuplyakov also collaborates with the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet and conducts its final graduation performances on the stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.
