Baritone Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar appears thrice at the VI International Mariinsky Far East Festival, Vladivostok

Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar, Honored Artist of Mongolia and the Republic of Buryatia, an outstanding young baritone, is a guest star at the VI International Mariinsky Far East Festival. The singer will appear in two performances at the Primorsky Stage and become a soloist in an opera gala.

On August 1, 2021 Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar will sing the part of Giorgio Germont in La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi. Besides Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar, the tragic story of passion of “the lady with the camellias” will be represented by Alexei Kostyuk (tenor), a leading singer of the Opera Company of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre, as Alfredo Germont and Albina Shagimuratova (coloratura soprano), a world opera Prima Donna, as Violetta Valéry. The baton will be held by Pavel Smelkov.

On August 4, 2021 Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar will perform in the great Opera Soloists Gala, in which Albina Shagimuratova, soloists of the Mariinsky Opera Company Yulia Matochkina, and other singers will take part.

On August 8, 2021 the Mariinsky Festival will end in Pyotr Tachaikovsky’s mystic opera The Queen of Spades in its version staged by Yuri Temirkanov, which became a classic example of opera direction. Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar will sing the role of Prince Yeletsky whose well-known aria is a trademark in the singer’s repertoire. The primary roles will be performed by Najmiddin Mavlyanov, a soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre and the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre who became a recipient of the 2021 Golden Mask, the National Theatre Award, as Herman, Yulia Matochkina as Polina, soloists of the Opera Company of the Primorsky Stage Marat Mukhametzyanov as Count Tomsky and Irina Kolodyazhnaya as the Countess, and Elena Razgulyaeva, Honored Artist of Russia, as Liza. The Orchestra will be conducted by Pavel Smelkov.

Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar is currently at the outset of his challenging international career. His experience includes his participation in the world’s leading singing competitions. He was a prize-winner at the XXIV International Glinka Vocalists’ Competition in Moscow, won the Grand Prix at the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition and was awarded the Song Prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition. With his intense baritone voice, he has appeared at the New York’s Carnegie Hall, London’s Cadogan Hall and Buckingham Palace, and the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia. In 2016 the singer was awarded the Order of Genghis Khan, Mongolia’s highest state award.

Now Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar is a guest soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre. He has often appeared at the Primorsky Stage in Vladivostok. The Far East audience appreciated him highly as Baron Scarpia in Tosca and Escamillo in Carmen. Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar also took part in the chamber program of the I International Mariinsky Far East Festival, Vladivostok, where he sang romances by Edvard Grieg, Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Sergei Rachmaninoff.
