The Concert dedicated to the Day of Slavonic Literature and Culture was held at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre

On May 29, 2021 the Concert dedicated to the Day of Slavonic Literature and Culture was held at the Great Hall of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. The Concert was given by the Combined Children Chorus of Vladivostok with Elena Petukhova, Honored Cultural Worker of Russia, as a Principal Chorus Master, the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage under the baton of Vitaly Shevelev and Ilya Astafurov (tenor), a soloist of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.

The Concert program included compositions by Nikolai Ketrov Senior, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Georgy Sviridov, Alexandra Pakhmutova, Ilia Shatrov, Georgy Struve, Yevgeny Krylatov, Matvey Blanter, Isaak Dunayevsky, Konstantin Listov, Vladimir Shainsky, Gennady Gladkov, Arkady Ostrovsky, and Mikhail Glinka.

The Combined Children Chorus of Vladivostok comprises the Academic Choir of the Far Eastern Federal University, the “Scarlet Sails” Showcase Choir and the “Svetlyachok” Junior School Choir of the S. Prokofiev Children’s Art School No. 1, a Choir of the “Kamerton” Showcase Chorus Studio, a Choir of the Children’s Music School No. 2, the “Assol” Choir of the Children’s Art School No. 3, the “Rainbow” Showcase Choir of the Children’s Art School No. 6, the “Joy” Choir and the “School Waltz” Choir of the Children’s Music School of the Primorsky Krai College of Arts.

It is to be recalled that the Day of Slavonic Literature and Culture is annually celebrated in Russia. The celebration is arranged to coincide with the Feast of Saints Cyril and Methodius Brothers, Equal-to-the-Apostles, who devised the alphabet and thereby marked the beginning of the Slavonic literature.
