Georgian tenor Otar Jorjikia twice appears at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre

In April the principal parts in the famous Italian operas at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will be performed by one of the most successful Georgian opera singers of his generation – tenor Otar Jorjikia. It will be the second visit of the artist to Vladivostok.

On April 15, 2021 at 19:00 he will appear in his best role – as Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca by Giacomo Puccini. In 2019 he made his successful debut as Mario Cavaradossi at La Scala, collaborating with Anna Netrebko. In the Primorsky Stage production he will collaborate with such principal soloists as Liliya Kadnikova as Tosca and Alexei Bublik as Baron Scarpia. The baton will be held by Pavel Smelkov, Principal Conductor of the Theatre.

On April 18, 2021 at 17:00 Otar Jorjikia will make his debut as Don Carlo in the opera of the same name by Giuseppe Verdi whose chef d'oeuvres rank high in the tenor’s repertoire. His companions on the stage will be Elena Razgulyaeva as Elisabeth de Valois, Vyacheslav Vasilyev as Rodrigo, Laura Bustamante as Princess Eboli, Sergei Pleshivtsev as Filippo II, and Yevgeny Plekhanov as The Grand Inquisitor. The baton will be held by Pavel Smelkov.

Otar Jorjikia is a soloist of the Georgian National Opera Theater, a guest soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre and the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. He has appeared at La Scala, Opera Australia, Opernhaus Zürich, Theater Basel, the Polish National Opera, and many other European opera houses. In August 2017 he first took part in the II International Mariinsky Far East Festival, Vladivostok, appearing in Simon Boccanegra opera under the baton of Valery Gergiev.
