March Events at the Great Hall of the Primorsky Stage

The Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre is glad to represent its March repertoire. The month is expected to be rich in events, including an operetta premiere, a gala concert and a visit of a globally renowned pianist.

On March 7, 2021 the opera and ballet gala “An Evening of Romantic Duets” will be arranged. The concert program includes opera duets and ballet adagios that tell us about love full of varieties. The orchestra is to be under the baton of Pavel Smelkov, Principal Conductor of the Primorsky Stage.

On March 11, 2021 Vladivostok will welcome the well-known pianist Alexei Volodin. The piano virtuoso will perform as a soloist Nikolai Medtner’s Piano Concerto No. 1. Symphonic Dances, one of the best symphonic works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, will be performed in the second part of the concert with the orchestra under Pavel Smelkov’s baton.

On March 26, 27 and 28, 2021 the audience will enjoy the extraordinary premiere of Die Fledermaus operetta by Johann Strauss II. The operetta was staged by Alexei Stepanyuk, a Saint Petersburg Director, with Ilya Ustyantsev as a Choreographer. The costumes and sets were designed by Vyacheslav Okunev. The Russian text was written by Nikolai Erdman and Mikhail Volpin. According to the Stage Director, the Choreographer and the Designers, the performance where artists speak and sing in Russian is intelligible and close to the audience and gives scope for artists’ creative improvisations. The premiere is prepared by several casts. The full list of performers will be published on the Primorsky Stage website. The operetta premiere is to be conducted by Pavel Smelkov.
