On December 24 and 25, Paolo Bressan (Italy) will conduct the opening show of Ruggiero Leoncavallo’s opera Pagliacci at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. The maestro is visiting Vladivostok for the first time.

Paolo Bressan is a graduate of the Milan Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory and of the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar. He works with orchestras and theatres around the world, such as Salzburg Festival, Teatro La Fenice, Lyon Opera, Dallas Opera, Croatian National Opera, Mariinsky Theatre, Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, Spanish National Orchestra, Italian Radio and Television Orchestra etc. Paolo Bressan works with such renowned singers as Anna Netrebko, Jonas Kaufman, Diana Damrau, Joseph Kalea, and with conductors Christian Thielemann and Valery Gergiev.

The Italian maestro arrived in Vladivostok to stage the premiere show of the opera Pagliacci at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. Paolo Bressan greatly praised the theater staff, saying:

“The singers are very well trained, so I was able to immediately proceed to details and specific things, such as the Italian language, as well as the interpretation, the melody, how to shape the sound and how to bind the sound to the language. I must say that the entire cast is very well prepared. Also yesterday I had my first rehearsal with the choir, ant it’s a fantastic choir! They sound great, and they show much engagement and dedication. So I am very happy to be here and to work on the production of Leoncavallo's Pagliacci”.
