The famous pianist Peter Laul appears at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre

The Primorsky Stage’s playbill for January includes two concerts to be given by Peter Laul, a well-known pianist from Saint Petersburg. The musician will represent his solo program and perform with the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage.

On January 15, 2022 Peter Laul will perform Alexander Scriabin’s Piano Concerto at the symphonic music evening “Scriabin – 150”. This event will open the concert cycle dedicated to the birth anniversary of the outstanding Russian composer. The baton will be held by Pavel Smelkov, Principal Conductor of the Primorsky Stage. The audience will also be able to hear Scriabin’s early symphonic compositions such as his Symphony No. 1 and Rêverie.

On January 16, 2022 Peter Laul will give a piano recital; this piano music evening is to comprise compositions by two great Russian composers. In Part I of the concert Peter Laul will perform Sergei Rachmaninoff’s well-known pieces such as Preludes, Études-Tableaux (“Study Pictures”) and Moments musicaux (“Musical Moments”). Part II is dedicated to works by Alexander Scriabin who means much to the pianist. Peter Laul has been a prizewinner at the Scriabin International Piano Competition in Moscow and works by Scriabin are among his most prominent recordings. Now his repertoire includes all piano works by Alexander Scriabin. For the Vladivostok audience, the pianist will perform Scriabin’s legendary piano left-hand compositions such as “Prélude et Nocturne”, Op. 9, the Sonate No. 3 and the Sonate No. 5, among others.

Peter Laul’s name can often be seen on playbills of the best concert venues. The pianist has appeared at the Saint Petersburg Philharmonia, the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, the Steinway Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Tokyo Suntory Hall and Opera City Concert Hall, the Brucknerhaus in Linz, and the Sala Verdi in Milan. He has made recordings for Radio France, Radio Bremen, Radio Orpheus, and the television channels such as Arte, Russia-Culture, RTR, and 5TV. Peter Laul has been presented with an honorary award by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation “For Achievements in Culture”.
