The Swan Lake ballet with Mariinsky principal dancers

Soloists of the Mariinsky Ballet will perform on the Primorsky Stage.

On March 7, the Swan Lake ballet will feature some of the brightest young principal dancers of the Mariinsky Ballet (St. Petersburg), Maria Iliushkina and Nikita Korneyev. In January, they debuted in the parts of Odetta-Odile and Siegfried on the Historical Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.

The world premiere of the ballet (choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov) at the Mariinsky Theatre took place on January 15, 1895. It was this formulation that became the classical basis for all subsequent interpretations. Each subsequent generation of choreographers has revised and enriched the Swan Lake staged by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov with new nuances. Viewers of the Primorsky Stage can see their favorite ballet in one of its canonical versions as staged by Konstantin Sergeev, in the legendary scenery by Simon Virsaladze.

That evening, along with the St. Petersburg principal dancers, soloists of the Mariinsky Ballet of the Primorsky Stage will take the stage as well: Denis Golov, Saki Nishida, Liliya Berezhnova, Viktor Mulygin and Shizuru Kato. Anton Torbeev will take the conductor’s console.
