Nikolai Mazhara, a famous pianist from Saint Petersburg and a prizewinner at international competitions, will come to Vladivostok again to take part in some events at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.
On February 16 at 5 p.m. Nikolai Mazhara will perform as a soloist for a symphonic concert of the Beethoven – 250 cycle. The pianist and the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3. The audience will also hear Symphony No. 1 and Symphony No. 5 by the greatest German composer. The Orchestra will be under the baton of Pavel Smelkov, a Principal Conductor of the Primorsky Stage.
On February 22 at 6 p.m. the symphonic concert consisting of works by Russian and foreign composers of the first half of the 20th century will take place. Nikolai Mazhara will perform solo for the Piano Concerto by Maurice Ravel, a French impressionist composer. Igor Stravinsky’s Scherzo fantastique and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 3 are also on the program. The baton will be held by Shizuo Z Kuwahara, Japan.
On February 14 and February 15 Nikolai Mazhara will take part in the first performances of the one-act ballet Visions fugitives choreographed by Dmitry Pimonov. The ballet is created specially for artists of the Primorsky Stage and based on Sergei Prokofiev’s piano cycle of the same name. Nationally acclaimed as a performer of Prokofiev’s compositions, Nikolai Mazhara will play Visions fugitives to accompany the ballet show.
Nikolai Mazhara will end his tour with the Beethoven – 250. Sonata Night chamber concert in the Chamber Hall of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre on February 23 at 5 p.m. The pianist will perform Beethoven’s Sonata Pathétique and piano parties in some ensembles with the musicians of the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage: Aleksey Maslov (violin) and Elizaveta Sushchenko (cello).
