Chamber concerts and performances for children are to be on the stage of the Chamber Hall in March. The concerts will be given by opera soloists and the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage. The performances are included in the series Music Told in Tales of Sand being a part of the project Valery Gergiev – For Children.
On March 7 at 18:00 the opera soloists and the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage will take part in the Gipsy Star chamber concert. The concert program includes compositions by Johannes Brahms, Franz Liszt, Maurice Ravel, Ruggero Leoncavallo, Giuseppe Verdi, Johann Strauss Jr., Franz Lehár, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Mily Balakirev, Pyotr Bulakhov, and Sergei Rachmaninoff. The announcer is to be Yelizaveta Sushchenko.
On March 28 at 12:00 and 14:00 The Tale of Tsar Saltan concert performance from the series Music Told in Tales of Sand will be twice performed for children in the 4-8 age group to combine harmoniously Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s music, Alexander Pushkin’s tale and sand animation. Olga Piccolo, a script author, will serve as a host.
On March 29 at 12:00 and 14:00 The Blue Bird. The Fairy Tale Journey from the series Music Told in Tales of Sand will be twice performed for children in the 5-12 age group. Based on Maurice Maeterlinck’s play, the performance uses sand animation technique and is accompanied with music by Sergei Prokofiev, Manuel de Falla and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Olga Piccolo, a script author, will serve as a host.
On March 29 at 18:00 the chamber concert Beethoven and Hindemith. Two Music Worlds will take place. The concert program includes Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 6 and Serenade for flute, violin and viola. The audience will also hear Paul Hindemith’s Sonata for trombone and piano, Sonata for viola and piano and Kleine Kammermusik for wind quintet. The announcer is to be Yelizaveta Sushchenko.
