Opera and Ballet Premieres on the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in October

In October, the audience of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will enjoy premieres of foreign composers’ operas, and the first guest appearance of the Yakobson Ballet Theater.

On October 4 and 6, Parsifal, Richard Wagner’s grandiose mystery opera staged by Tony Palmer, will be presented. This production is the only staging of the opera in Russia, and it will be presented in Vladivostok only twice. The main parts will be sung by soloists of the Mariinsky Theater from St Petersburg who have proved to be good at performing the Wagner repertoire: Mikhail Vekua (Parsifal), Vadim Kravets (Amfortas, Klingsor), Yuri Vorobiov (Gurnemanz), and Anna Markarova (Kundry). Christoph Stöcker, a German musician, participant of the Wagner festival in Bayreuth, will be at the conductor’s desk.

October 10 and 12 will see the last performances on the Primorsky Stage of Lucia di Lammermoor, an opera by Gaetano Donizetti staged by Italian director Andrea de Rosa. This most complicated opera, with its status of Romantic bel canto masterpiece, will be presented by soloists of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theater, with Maria Suzdaltseva, Olga Zharikova as Lucia; Alexei Kostyuk, Mergen Sandanov as Edgardo; Alexei Bublik, Vyacheslav Vasiliev as Enrico; and Sergey Pleshivtsev, Evgeny Plekhanov as Raimondo. Conductor: Anton Torbeev.

On October 18, as part of the Theater Olympics 2019, the first guest appearance of the Leonid Yakobson St Petersburg Academic Ballet Theater will take place on the Primorsky Stage. The company’s dancers will present a night of Russian Ballet Masterpieces. Its program includes choreographic miniatures of the legendary ballet master. Vladislav Karklin will be at the conductor’s desk.
