The First Performance of the China Philarmonic Orchestra in Vladivostok

On August 6, 2019 the China Philharmonic Orchestra will perform under the baton of its principal conductor, Xia Xiaotang, at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre with An Tianxu, a Chinese pianist and a prize-winner of the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition.

An Tianxu is a laureate of one of the prestigious music contests — the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition — which was resonant across the world in June 2019. Now the 20-year pianist is a student of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, USA. He took part in master classes with Robert Macdonald, Sergey Babayan, Klaus Bessler, Andrea Bonatta, and Maxim Mogilevsky.

The China Philharmonic Orchestra wasиfounded in Beijing in May 2000 as part of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Chinese Radio and Television. Over the past years the Orchestra has given a lot of concerts in China and abroad (including Latin American countries, Europe and the USA) and presented some premieres of contemporary composers. The Orchestra diligently performs Chinese composers’ music.
