On August 4 and 5, 2018 Valery Gergiev will perform at the III International Mariinsky Far East Festival, Vladivostok

On August 4, 2018 at 04:00 p.m., the already familiar to the audience of the Primorsky Stage Iolanta opera by Pyotr Tchaikovsky will be performed in its concert version, under the baton of Valery Gergiev. The main parts will be sung by opera stars Irina Churilova (Iolanta), Mikhail Petrenko (René, King of Provence), Aleksey Markov (Robert), Nazhmiddin Mavlyanov (Count Vaudémont), Roman Burdenko (Ibn-Hakia). Also, the Ensemble of the Academy of Young Opera Singers of the Mariinsky Theatre will take part in the concert.

Later that day, Valery Gergiev will be conducting the Far Eastern premiere of Salome opera by Richard Strauss (concert performance). The title role will be performed by Elena Stikhina. The part of Jochanaan will be sung by Evgeny Nikitin, the part of Herodes, by Andrei Popov, and the part of Herodias, by Olga Savova. The show will start at 08:00 p.m.

On August 5, 2018 the Primorsky Stage will see the premiere of Tristan und Isolde opera by Richard Wagner, staged by Dmitry Chernyakov. The main parts will be performed by Mikhail Vekua (Tristan), Mikhail Petrenko (Marke, King of Cornwall), Elena Popovskaya (Isolde), Evgeny Nikitin (Kurwenal) and Yulia Matochkina (Brangäne). Valery Gergiev will be at the console of the Mariinsky Orchestra.
