Far East premiere of Salome opera by Richard Strauss at the III International Mariinsky Far East Festival, Vladivostok

On July 29, 2018, on the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre the final performances of the ballet program of the III International Mariinsky Far East Festival, Vladivostok, were given.

Guests of the Festival will further enjoy eventful symphonic and opera programs encompassing performances of world instrumentalists and rising stars and opera premieres of leading soloists of the Mariinsky Opera Company and the Mariinsky Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev.

Please, be reminded that the ballet program of the III International Mariinsky Far East Festival, Vladivostok, was opened with Don Quixote ballet by Ludwig Minkus staged by Alexander Gorsky after the ballet originally choreographed by Marius Petipa, on July 24, 2018. The audience of the Primorsky Stage could see this ballet twice with different stars. The first night stared Kimin Kim (South Korea), Renata Shakirova, Ekaterina Kondaurova, Tatiana Tkachenko, and Konstantin Zverev. On July 25, 2018 the second night featured Timur Askerov, Nadezhda Batoeva, Kristina Shapran, Tatiana Tkachenko, and Boris Zhurilov.

Then The Four Seasons ballet staged by Ilia Jivoy, recomposed by Max Richter after Antonio Vivaldi was performed twice. Before the first performance on July 26, 2018 the Primorsky Stage’s new project Scenic Introduction was shown, where the lecture about the history of the ballet was read by Natalia Rogudeeva, a musicologist, and Ilia Jivoy gave a talk on creation of the performance.

At the Festival Cinderella ballet composed by Sergei Prokofiev, choreographed by Aleksey Ratmansky was also performed. The performances were shown on the Primorsky Stage once on July 28, 2018 and twice on July 29, 2018.

The ballet stared Kimin Kim (South Korea), Renata Shakirova, Ekaterina Kondaurova, Kristina Shapran, Tatiana Tkachenko, Konstantin Zverev, Vladimir Shklyarov, and Nadezhda Batoeva. On the threshold of the first performance the meet-the-artist event with Vladimir Shklyarov and Nadezhda Batoeva was held on the occasion of the fifteenth anniversary of the principal dancer’s creative work with Mariinsky Ballet.
