On 8 April, in the run-up to the XVII Moscow Easter Festival, the Mariinsky soloists, chorus and the Mariinsky Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev will present a concert performance of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’ opera Iolanta on stage of the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall (Moscow). Leading parts will be performed by Irina Churilova (Iolanta), Migran Agadzhanyan (Count Vaudemont), Alexei Markov (Robert), Stanislav Trofimov (Rene, King of Provence), Roman Burdenko (Ibn-Hakia).
Live broadcast from the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall will be organized in collaboration with the Moscow Philharmonic for the Far East and other Russian regions, participating in the All-Russian Virtual Concert Hall project. In Vladivostok, the performance will be shown at the Chamber Hall of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre at 19:00, local time.
Later, the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will join the symphony programme of the XVII Moscow Easter Festival. On 11 April, the soloists, chorus and orchestra of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre conducted by Waleriy Trubin-Leonoff together with the Combined Choir of the Primorsky Metropolitante. The Orchestra and chorus of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre under the baton of Pavel Smelkov will perform on April 21.
The XVII Moscow Easter Festival will run from April to May 9, 2018 with the support of the Moscow City Government, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation and with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. The 17th season will be one of the longest and largest in the history of the Festival, with the record-setting musical marathon lasting 32 days. Musicians of the Mariinsky Orchestra and Valery Gergiev are expected to travel the distance of 20 000 kilometers and visit more than 30 Russian cities and towns.
