Yuri Bashmet to perform at the Primorsky Stage

6 September will see a concert by the Moscow Soloists Chamber Ensemble under the baton of Yuri Bashmet, which will take place at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre as part of the cultural programme of the Third Eastern Economic Forum. The concert will also feature young musicians - soloists of the All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra Zinovia Nesterenko (violin) and Alexandra Obnorskaya (flute).

The evening programme will include Eine kleine Nachtmusik by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and The String Serenade by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Two Nordic Melodies by Edvard Grieg, Adagio from the celebrated Clarinet Quintet by Johannes Brahms in the original arrangement by Yuri Bashmet, as well as other compositions.

On 6 September, Yuri Bashmet will introduce two of the best soloists of the All-Russian Youth Orchestra to the Primorsky audience. The fifteen-year-old violinist Zinovia Nesterenko, whose achievements include the Grand Prix at the Erdenko International Violin Competition and a diploma received at the International Tchaikovsky Youth Competition, will play the solo in the virtuosic Valso-Scherzo by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Alexandra Obnorskaya, a student of the Moscow State Conservatory, a multiple winner of Russian and international competitions, will perform the flute part in Contrafactus, a piece by the contemporary Italian composer Giovanni Sollima. The All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Yuri Bashmet was founded in 2012. It is comprised of musicians from all over the country, ranging in age from 10 to 22. In 2016, new members of the orchestra were selected on the basis of large-scale auditions held in all federal districts of Russia. The Culture TV Channel has shot a unique real-time documentary project about the pre-audition selection rounds and the Orchestra rehearsals. In autumn 2016, the Orchestra went on a tour of Russian and European cities, during which it gave concerts in Moscow, St Petersburg, Amsterdam, Milan and Vienna.

The cultural programme of the EEF-2017 will include several opera and ballet performances at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. On 5 September the spectators will see the premiere of Andrea De Rosa’s production of Giuseppe Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra. Leading parts will be performed by internationally acclaimed singers Vladislav Sulimsky and Tatiana Pavlovskaya. They will be partnered by lead soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre (St Petersburg) Stanislav Trofimov, Alexander Mikhailov and Efim Zavalny.

On 7 and 8 September, the most grandiose premiere of last season — The Sleeping Beauty by Pyotr Tchaikovsky will return to the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre under the framework of the international cultural Russian Seasons Project. On September 7, the part of Princess Aurora will be danced by ballerina of the Tani Momoko Ballet Aumi Nagahashi (Japan).
