Promising Ballet Artists from South Korea to Perform at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in March

In March, ballet aficionados will have a chance to see the Primorsky Stage productions, featuring young South Korean performers Sun Woo Lee and Soo Bin Lee.

The recipient of the 1st Prize at the International Ballet Competition Youth America Grand Prix (New York, 2015) and the 3rd Prize at the International Ballet Competition in Varna (2016) Sun Woo Lee will perform the part of Conrad in Le Corsaire (3 March).

The winner of the International Competition Vaganova–Prix ( 2016) Soo Bin Lee, who debuted at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in August 2016, will appear in the title part in Giselle on 30 March.

Sun Woo Lee, a young dancer from Seoul, is a student of the Korea National University of Arts. Last December, Sun Woo Lee’s debut as Conrad at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre was warmly received by the audience. In 2016, he won bronze at one of the most prestigious International Ballet Competitions in Varna.

Soo Bin Lee is the winner of international ballet competitions in Seoul and New York, a holder of the Varna 2014 Special Distinction Award received at the most prestigious International Ballet Competition in Varna, as well as the winner of the 1st Prize at the revived International Competition Vaganova-Prix. Since 2015 she has been a student of the Korea National University of Arts. In Russia, the ballerina’s debut took place at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre during the First International Mariinsky Far East Festival in Vladivostok in August of 2016. Later, in September 2016, she debuted here in the role of Giselle.
