On 8 and 11 December performances of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will feature one of the world’s most acclaimed coloratura sopranos — Albina Shagimuratova, who is to appear on stage in Vladivostok for the first time. The magnificent voice of the singer hailed by the critics as “a Stradivarius violin” has conquered leading operatic stages worldwide, including the Mariinsky Theatre (St Petersburg), the Metropolitan Opera (New York), Royal Opera House - Covent-Garden (London), Teatro alla Scala (Milan), Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper (Munich), San-Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, the Bolshoi Theatre and many others.
Albina Shagimuratova first came to international attention as the Golden Medal Winner in the P.I.Tchaikovsky International Competition in 2007, which was followed by her debut at the Salzburg Festival. The singer has worked with such maestros as Valery Gergiev, Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, James Conlon, Andrew Davis, Adam Fisher, Patrick Summers, James Livine. Albina performed at the most prestigious music events: the Glyndebourne Festival, the Edinburgh Festival, the Florentine Musical May, the BBC Proms, the Stars of the White Nights, the Moscow Easter Festival.
Albina Shagimuratova has been a heroine of a number of documentaries: “Moscow Hasn’t Been Built in a Day” from the cycle “The Voices of the 21th Century (2015), “World Opera: Russian Trace” and “Voices for a Million” (2016). 2017 will see a release of a new film version of Tolstoy’s “Anna Karenina” with the singer in the role of the legendary soprano Adelina Patti (Director — Karen Shakhnazarov).
Albina Shagimuratova will appear at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre as Violetta in “La Traviata” (11 December) and will perform the part of Donna Anna in concert performance of “Don Giovanni” (8 December).
