Richard Wagner’s Das Rheingold (The Gold of Rhine) For the First Time at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre

On the 1st of November, the soloists of the Mariinsky opera company and the Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev will present an opera recital of The Gold of Rhine by Richard Wagner, for the first time in Vladivostok. The main parts will be sung by Yuri Vorobiev (Wotan), Mikhail Vekua (Loge), Andrei Popov (Mime), Pavel Shmulevich (Fafner), Vadim Kravets (Fasolt), Anna Kiknadze (Fricka), Zlata Bulycheva (Erda), Oksana Shilova (Freia).

In October the soloists of the Mariinsky Theatre will take part in several productions of the Primorsky Stage. Eugene Onegin by Pyotr Tchaikovsky will be performed on October 22 featuring Yevgeny Akhmedov (Lensky) and Yuri Vorobiev (Prince Gremin). On October 23, the main parts in Bizet’s Carmen will be performed by Yulia Matochkina (Carmen), Mikhail Vekua (Don Jose), and Oksana Shilova (Micaela). Oksana Shilova will also perform the part of Violetta Valery in Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata on October 16. On October 2, Bizet’s Carmen will be performed with a different cast.

The October playbill also includes: Tosca by Giacomo Puccini (October 7), The Tale of Tsar Saltan by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (October 9), and The Love for Three Oranges by Sergei Prokofiev (October 13).

The October playbill of the Chamber Hall of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre will start with an event timed to coincide with the celebration of the 125th anniversary of Sergei Prokofiev’s birthday. On October 1, there will be a film screening of The Gambler. The opera was recorded on the label of the Mariinsky Theatre in 2013. It received great critics’ reviews and won several prestigious classical music awards. This production was directed by Timur Chkheidze featuring the golden cast of Mariinsky singers, the choir and the symphony orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre under the leadership of Valery Gergiev.

On the 2nd of October, in the Chamber Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre, there will be a solo concert of pianist Yevgeniy Solovyov, a laureate of international competitions. The programme consists of works by Robert Schumann and Claude Debussy.

In October the ballet company of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre invites the audience to attend their favorite classical productions. The month will start with The Nutcracker (October 1) by Pyotr Tchaikovsky conducted by Alexander Slutsky featuring the soloists of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. Other performances of the show will be on October 20 and 21.

On October 14, there will be a ballet night with Grand pas from Raimonda, Pas de dues Carnival in Venice from Satanella, Pas de six from Esmeralda, Mikhail Fokine’s The Dying Swan¸ a ballet number Inspiration and a one act ballet The Firebird choreographed by Eldar Aliev. On October 15, Bambi and In the Jungles choreographed by Anton Pimonov will be again shown at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre. The premier of these two ballet will be on September 24. Also in October the audience will have an opportunity to see Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s The Swan Lake (October 6) and Le Corsaire (October 8) by Adolphe Adam.
