Naumov was born in Leningrad. After graduating from the Leningrad Ulyanov (Lenin) Electrotechnical Institute (now the St Petersburg State Electrotechnical University) in 1982, he worked at the Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute.
Since 1993 he has worked at the Mariinsky Theatre. As a lighting designer at the Mariinsky Theatre, he has worked on the productions of such ballets as Études (2003), Ondine (2006), Carnaval (2008), Shurale (2009), Spartacus (2010), Flight of Angels (2010), Diana Vishneva's project Beauty in Motion (2009) and Labyrinth as part of the Dialogues project (2011). Naumov took part in the production of the opera Madama Butterfly as Assistant Lighting Designer (2005), he also was a lighting designer of opera Salome (2017) production.
As a lighting designer he took part in many productions at Russian and foreign musical theatres. He worked on the productions of the opera Intizar at the Geidar Aliev Palace in Baku (2010), the ballets Le Corsaire (2014), The Fountain of Bakhchisarai and Naïade et le Pêcheur (2019) at the Samara Opera and Ballet Theatre, the ballet The Nutcracker at the Primorsky Opera and Ballet Theatre (as an assistant lighting designer, 2014), The Sleeping Beauty at the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in Vladivostok (2017), La Fille mal gardée (2015) and Paquita (2018) at the Yekaterinburg Opera and Ballet Theatre, the ballet The Legend of the Lake in Sofia Opera and Ballet (2019), The Nutcracker for Tokyo Ballet (2019), Leningrad Symphony at the Samara Opera and Ballet Theatre (2020).
In 2003, 2008 and 2010 he was Lighting Designer for the international project Ballettissimo, los virtuosos del mundo in Mexico.
Since 2009 he has been Lighting Designer for the Dance Open international ballet festival, which runs on an annual basis in St Petersburg, working on a final gala as Lighting Designer.
