Yekaterina Shimanovich was born in Minsk. In 1998, she entered the Byelorussian Academy of Music in 1998. She subsequently trained at the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire (class of Grayr Khanedanian), graduating in 2004. Soloist with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers from 2003. Joined the Mariinsky Opera Company in 2008.

Her repertoire also includes the roles of Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Iolanta (Iolanta) and Abigaille (Nabucco).
In 2004, Yekaterina Shimanovich performed at the Aix-en-Provence Music Festival as Fata Morgana in The Love for Three Oranges. In 2005, she performed this role in Luxemburg, and in 2006 she reprise the role in Madrid. The same year, she toured with the Mariinsky Opera Company to Germany, China and Japan. In 2008, she performed the soprano part in Shostakovich's Fourteenth Symphony (in Beijing). In 2009, she took part in the International Festival of Savonlinna, performing the role of Helen of Troy (Mefistofele).
