Svetlana Karpova


Mezzo-soprano

Svetlana Karpova (Kapicheva) was born in Vyborg (Leningrad Region).

In 2010 she graduated from the Vocal Department of the St Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music (Lia Shevtsova’s class). In 2016 she graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory (Vladimir Vaneyev’s class).

From 2015 to 2017 Svetlana Karpova perfected her performing skills at the Elena Obraztsova International Academy of Music in St Petersburg (Vladimir Vaneyev’s class).

In 2016 she made her debut at the Mariinsky Theatre in the opera War and Peace under the direction of Valery Gergiev.

Repertoire also includes: Olga (Eugene Onegin), Vanya (A Life for the Tsar), Siébel (Gounod’s Faust), Lyubasha (The Tsar’s Bride), Basmanov (The Oprichnik), Martha and Laura (Iolanta), Mrs Meg Page (Falstaff), Old Gipsy Woman (Aleko), Lumir (Mlada).

In 2018 she appeared at the Verbier Festival as Maddalena (Rigoletto).
