Hovhannes Ayvazyan was born in Yerevan. In 2011 he graduated from the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan (class of Sergei Danielyan). Prize-winner at the Tatevik Sazandaryan Republican Competition of Singers (Yerevan, 2007; 2nd prize) and the Gohar Gasparyan Pan-Armenian Solo Singing Competition (Yerevan, 2008; 1st prize). In 2009 he won the Armenian Presidential Prize.
Hovhannes Ayvazyan is a soloist with the Alexander Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre (Yerevan).
He made his debut at the Mariinsky Theatre in Tosca in 2013 and then sang the part of Manrico in the premiere of the opera Il trovatore.

As a guest soloist he has performed at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow, the State Opera of Tatarstan (Kazan), the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus (Minsk), the Teatro Massimo Bellini (Catania, Sicily), the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera (Warsaw), Oper Frankfurt, Palm Beach Opera and others. He performed Mozart’s Requiem at the Musikverein in Vienna and an opera gala at Geneva’s Victoria Hall. Since 2010 he has collaborated with Opera Belcanto of South Simcoe (now Opera Belcanto of York, Vaughan, Ontario). In 2017 Ayvazyan performed the part of Radamès in the opera Aida at the Arena di Verona Opera Festival.
