Bass guitar, double bass
Shinichi Sato graduated from the Keio private university in Japan, after which he entered the postgraduate study program of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA. Studying the art of composing, Shinichi Sato performed day after day with such prominent musicians as Mark Turner, Joshua Redman, and Kurt Rosenwinkel. This was how he discovered jazz music.
Back in Japan, he recorded albums and performed with such musicians and performers as Seigen Ono, Jun Usuba, Hiromitsu Agatsuma, Junko Moriya, Shunzo Ohno, Ryoko Moriyama, Chie Ayado, and Lisa Ono, and with bands Soul Bossa Trio, Noon, Som Brasil etc.
Since 1997 he has appeared on various venues of Europe and America. In 1997 he performed at the North Sea Jazz festival, in 2004 in the Lincoln Center, New York’s largest cultural venue, in 2008 in Monterey, and in 2010 at the World EXPO exhibition.
In 2006, Shinichi Sato released his first disc Le Freak, which was a great success covered by many media.
Apart from bass guitar, Shinichi Sato is a virtuoso double bass player. He studied this instrument with such famous masters as Asahiko Eguchi and Yoshida Shu.
