Seung Min Kang began playing cello at age eight and, skipping high school, gained special entrance to the Korean National University of Arts, where she studied with Myung-Wha Chung, Hyung Won Chang. After moving to Germany in 2007 she attended the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin as a student of David Geringas and Troels Svane. First-prize winner in many Korean competitions, she has also won top prizes at numerous international competitions, first prize at the Gaspar Cassado International Violoncello Competition, special prize at the Rostropovich cello competition, most recently fifth prize at the 2015 Tchaikovsky Competition. An active recitalist, she has also appeared as soloist with orchestras throughout Korea, and in the United States, Germany, Monaco, Lithuania, and Japan.
