Pavel Milyukov


Violin

Pavel Milyukov was born in Perm. At the age of four he started taking music lessons with Tatyana Shevtsova. Graduated from the Academic College of Music of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (class of the People’s Artist of Russia, Professor Vladimir Ivanov), then from the Moscow State Conservatory itself. In 2012 received a postgraduate degree at the Moscow Conservatory and in 2013 completed a postgraduate course at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Graz. Currently, he is studying at the Vienna Konservatorium (class of Boris Kuschnir).

Prize-winner at international competitions in Togliatti (1st prize, 2002), Kloster Schöntal 2nd prize, Germany, 2003), at the International Robert Canetti Competition (1st prize, Hungary, 2005), the Nicolo Paganini (2007) and the David Oistrakh Competition (2nd prize, 2008) in Moscow, the International Vibrarte Competition in Paris (1st prize, France) as a member of the Con Spirito Trio, the Grand Prix at the International Violin Competition in Astana (Kazakhstan, 2008), the International Violin Competition in Seoul (2nd prize, South Korea, 2012), Aram Khachaturian Competition in Yerevan (1st prize, Armenia, 2012).

In June 2015 won the 3rd prize at the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. He has twice received a grant from the St Petersburg House of Music and the Rossiya Bank (2008, 2009). In 2016 he was awarded the Order of Friendship.

In 2007 he became a permanent soloist with the St Petersburg House of Music. Since 2012 he has been a soloist with the Moscow Philharmonic.

Gives master-classes in various cities of Russia and Brazil. Tours across Austria, Belgium, Brazil, China, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, North and South Korea, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Has worked with such conductors as Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Spivakov, Mikhail Pletnev, Vladimir Fedoseyev, James Conlon, Vasily Petrenko, Yuri Simonov, Pavel Kogan, Alexander Sladkovsky, Robert Canetti, Maria Eklund, and Kristjan Järvi.
