In 1996 graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory (class of prof. G. Nikitin).
In 1992–1993 worked with the St Petersburg State Academic Copella Symphony Orchestra as the flute section leader.
In 1993 joined the St Petersburg Camerata (the State Hermitage Orchestra) as the first flute and the woodwind section leader.
Simultaneously with his work in the orchestra, Orest Severin was engaged in teaching activities - gave master-classes in Japan. In 2009–2012, he taught at the Damask Conservatory and worked in the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra.
In 2012–2013 he resumed his work with the State Hermitage Orchestra. Orest Severin worked under such conductors as S. Sondeckis, Y. Menuhin, V. Gergiev, A. Mustonen, F. Korobov, K. Penderecki, M. Guidarini, G. Tourniaire , F. Mastrangelo.
As a member of the orchestra, he has played with such prominent musicians as N. Gedda, T. Berganza, E. Obraztsova, V. Tretiakov, N. Gutman, A. Netrebko, D. Hvorostovsky. R. Fleming, D. Matsuev, J. Carreras, P. Badura-Skoda.
As an orchestra member and a solo artist performed both in Russia and abroad - in Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, the UAE, Japan. In 2013 became a soloist of the flute section of the Primorsky State Opera and Ballet Theatre. Since 2016 he has been the leader of the flute section of the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage.
