Born in St Petersburg into a family of musicians. Started to study music when he was four and at five went on to study violin. In 1999 finished the Specialized Music High School (Lyceum) of the St Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory (class of N.R. Sklyarskaya).
During the time of studying gave concerts in Dutch and German cities.
In 1999, Khristian entered the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg Conservatory (class of V.Y. Ovchark).
In the same year, he started working in the Youth Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre and then - in the Theatre’s big Symphony Orchestra.
He is the 1st Prize winner at the International Young Virtuosos-2000 Music Competition.
Currently, Khristian Artamonov is assistant concertmaster of the Mariinsky Orchestra.
He regularly performs in chamber concerts held at the Mariinsky Theatre (St Petersburg).
