Alexei Zhurba


Trombone
  • Prize-winner at the International Music and Theatre Competition and Festival “Nadezhda” (Krasnoyarsk, 2007)
  • Prize-winner at the IV All-Russian Open A.A. Nesterov Competition for Performers on Brass and Percussion Instruments (2nd prize, 2011)

Alexei Zhurba has been taught at the Krasnoyarsk State Academy of Music and Theatre now renamed as Dmitri Hvorostovsky Siberian State Academy of Arts (class of Vasily Ivanovich Babich, Honored Artist of Russia).

He has participated in master classes given by Jacques Mauger, Lars Karlin, and performed at various big music festivals in Sweden, Germany, Finland, Italy, Korea and China.

Since 2014 Alexei Zhurba has been a member of the Primorsky Opera and Ballet Theatre Symphony Orchestra. Since 2016 he has been Assistant to the Principal Trombone of the Mariinsky Orchestra of the Primorsky Stage, and since September 2019 he has been its Principal Trombone and the leader of the trombone section.
