Alexander Pokidchenko was born in Rostov-on-Don. He holds a degree from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory as a composer.

His compositions include the dramatic scene The Labyrinth based on Marina Tsvetaeva’s tragedy Ariadne for soloists, organ and symphony orchestra; musicals Lady Akouline, School of Snow Maidens, The Snow Queen: Global Warming, music for fairy tales A Winter Night’s Dream, Lukomorye, The Fairytale City, chamber music pieces, songs, and romance ballads. Alexander Pokidchenko is the author of the music for one-actor performances based on the works by A. Pushkin, K. Balmont, N. Gumilev, R. Schumann, G. Faure, S. Frank.

Alexander Pokidchenko is the composer, presenter and performer of concert programs dedicated to such outstanding masters of the Russian song as A. Tsfasman, O. Feltsman, Ya. Frenkel, A. Ostrovsky, E. Krylatov, E. Kolmanovsky, Yu. Saulsky, I. Shaferan, Ye. Yevtushenko, etc.

From 1994 to 1999, he was the author and presenter of the TV program With Love to Music (RTR channel). 

He is a regular participant in Rossiya-Kultura TV’s program The Romantics of the Romance Song. 

Alexander Pokidchenko is the artistic director of the Creative Commonwealth of Musicians ensemble. He was a participant in the cultural programs of Summer and Winter Olympics in Beijing (2008), Vancouver (2010), London (2012), and Sochi (2014).

Alexander Pokidchenko is a member of the Union of Russian Composers.

As an accompanist, he has performed with such singers as A. Garifullina, V. Dzhioeva, E. Lekhina, V. Berzhanskaya, Yu. Mazurova, D. Korchak, N. Didenko, V. Ladyuk, A. Tatarintsev, N. Gerasimova, T. Monogarova, E. Ionova, L. Kostyuk, M. Mironov, R. Pogosov, N. Ritter, I. Shishkova, E. Semenchuk.

Alexander Pokidchenko is a guest teacher at the Youth Opera Program of the Bolshoi Theatre. 

From 2007 to 2016, he was the leading teacher and accompanist at the World of Art Charitable Foundation.

Since 2006, Alexander Pokidchenko has been the leading teacher and accompanist at the White Steamer Charitable Foundation.
