Konstantin Yakobson – Ph. D. in Arts History, Professor, the Honoured Artist of Russia. In 1978–1993, Konstantin Yakobson worked as a chorus master at the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre. During his work in this capacity, the theatre staged 15 premiers. He was the founder of the Sputnik Chorus, which also participated in repertoire performances of the theatre.
Konstantin Yakobson initiated and organized the annual choral festival Spring Choral Coppеllas in Krasnoyarsk. Under his direction, the Mixed Chorus of Krasnoyarsk prepared a number of the most difficult classical scores and presented them at the Festival concerts. At Konstantin Yakobson’s initiative, since 2000, the Festival programme has included a competition for students majoring in academic choral conducting. The competition held in 2015 reached an international level.
Konstantin Yakobson is also artistic director of the Winter Surikov Festival of Arts. Another large-scale project in which Yakobson plays an important role – the International Festival Masterpieces of the World's Classic on the Yenisei River – is designed to introduce residents of the Krasnodar Region to classical music and has already given them a chance to hear such works as Stabat Mater by G. Rossini, The Requiem by W.A. Mozart, The Mermaid of Lake Sweitz by N. Rimsky-Korsakov.
In 1991, Konstantin Yakubovich founded the ensemble of soloists “Tebe Poem” (We Sing to Thee). The Ensemble represents the Krasnoyarsk Choral School in its numerous tours in Russia and abroad and is a winner of multiple international awards.
Over the last 10 years, Yakubovich has prepared several programmes of Orthodox music, performed by the Ensemble at more than 100 concerts in Russia, North and South America, France, Montenegro and the Czech Republic. Music lovers had a chance to hear The All-Night Vigil and Liturgy of St John Chrysostom by Sergei Rachmaninoff performed together with ensembles from Moscow (The Chorus of the Popov Academy of Choral Art) and Novosibirsk (the Chamber Choir of the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Society).
Since 2006, Konstantin Yakobson has been an artistic director of the church music festival “Pokrovskiye Vstrechi”.
He has been elected chairman of the Krasnoyarsk regional branch of the All-Russian Choral Society and a Board member of the All-Russian Choral Society. In 2015, the Tebe Poem Ensemble presented a world premiere of the Russian choral opera Boyarina Morozova by Rodion Shchedrin, the production was highly praised by the composer.
