Vitaly Shevelev was born in the village of Bely Ruchey, Vytegorsky District, Vologda Region.
He graduated from the N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory in 2017 (class of Professor Alexander Titov).
In 2017–2020 Vitaly Shevelev had been a conductor at the G. Tsydynzhapov Buryat State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
Since November 2020 he has been a conductor of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre.
