Arseny Shuplyakov

Arseny Shuplyakov was born in Leningrad. He graduated from the St Petersburg Conservatory (percussion class of Sergei Antoshkin, conducting class of Vladimir Altschuler).

Since 2016 he has been a conductor of the Mariinsky Stage Wind Band and guest conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre. As a conductor he has performed with the Mariinsky Orchestra, the St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre’s branch in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. In 2019, he conducted the orchestra during the final round of the International Tchaikovsky Competition (brass category).

At his initiative the Mariinsky Wind Ensemble was created in 2017.

In 2018 he was stage director and conductor of Pulcinella, in 2019 of Jeu de cartes, both choreographed by Ilya Zhivoi, and in 2020 of Violent Dances choreographed by Vladimir Varnava.

His ballet repertory at the Mariinsky also includes Romeo and Juliet, Don Quixote, Sylvia, Shurale, Diamonds, The Legend of Love, The Rite of Spring, Les Noces, Petrouchka, Leningrad Symphony, L’Après-midi d’un faune, Marguerite and Armand, Le Spectre de la rose, The Firebird, Apollo, Symphony in C, Le Parc, Carmen Suite, Pierrot lunaire, Le Jeune Homme et la Mort, Clay, Daphnis et Chloé, Le Bœuf sur le toit, Infra, The Young Lady and the Hooligan, Le Carnaval, Concerto DSCH, Porcelain and Concerto for Contrabass, Schéhérazade, Violin Concerto No. 2, Push Comes to Shove, Renard, Mavra, The Fairy’s Kiss, The Nose, Symphony in Three Movements, Anna Karenina, The Stone Flower.

His video recordings with the Mariinsky Ballet include Don Quixote (for Mezzo) and Shurale. He also collaborates with Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet and conducts its final graduation performances at the Mariinsky.
